As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, there are no direct international train services to Norway, and train travel to Norway usually involves connecting services from neighbouring countries. However, train travel within Norway is well-developed, and you can reach Bergen from major cities within the country.

Here are some general guidelines for

Bergen map from the airport.

reaching Norway and Bergen by train:

International Train Travel to Norway:

  1. From Sweden: You can take a train from Stockholm, Sweden, to Oslo, Norway. The train journey offers scenic views as it travels through the Swedish and Norwegian countryside. From Oslo, you can then take a domestic train to Bergen.
  2. From Denmark: Travelers can take a train from Copenhagen, Denmark, to Oslo. From Oslo, you can then continue to Bergen by train.
  3. From Germany: There are train services from Germany to Oslo, such as the service from Hamburg to Oslo. Again, from Oslo, you can proceed to Bergen by train.

Domestic Train Travel within Norway:

Once you are in Norway, you can use the country’s extensive and efficient train network. The Bergen Line (Bergensbanen) is the railway line that connects Oslo and Bergen, offering breathtaking views of the Norwegian landscapes. The train journey takes about 7 hours and is considered one of the most scenic train rides in the world.

Important Points to Consider:

  4. Border Crossing and Immigration: When travelling internationally by train, be aware of any border crossing procedures and immigration requirements.

Please note that the information provided here is based on the situation as of my last knowledge update in January 2022. It’s important to verify the current status, train schedules, and travel conditions before planning your journey, as things may have changed since then.
